Bloomb Health Alliance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit advancing health equity through better access to care and open source AI safety, powering digital companions and community care pathways for those who need it most.
Bloomb Health Alliance is a North Carolina 501(c)(3) nonprofit that bridges enterprise-grade AI architecture with human-centered community care, administering grants, building open source AI safety frameworks, and expanding access to care for individuals and communities who face the greatest barriers.
"Are we truly at the tipping point where AI can be made useful for human good and not just profits? I said, let's try it."
Bloomb Health Alliance was formed as a nonprofit to align with federal policy, support Medicaid-eligible populations, and ensure that Bloomb's tools and programs can reach more people who need them, without a paywall standing in the way.
Bloomb Health Alliance is led by a technologist who has spent her career building enterprise-grade AI infrastructure, and who also lived through the exact gaps in care that Bloomb now exists to close.
AI Architect and Responsible AI specialist with 15+ years of experience building enterprise data systems, knowledge graphs, and multi-turn LLM evaluation pipelines. Damie brings the same technical rigor used to secure enterprise AI deployments to the design of tools meant for people's most vulnerable moments. She is also the mother of five.
Damie's path to founding Bloomb wasn't only professional. As a postpartum mother who struggled to find adequate support, and as the caregiver of an autistic child, she lived through the exact gaps in care Bloomb was built to close. That lived experience, paired with her enterprise AI background, is what shapes every program the organization runs.
Two initiatives anchor Bloomb Health Alliance's work: a postpartum AI companion piloted in Appalachian North Carolina, and an open source platform that lets clinicians, not just engineers, evaluate whether an AI system is safe.
Connected Beginnings fills a critical gap between fragmented digital tools and limited in-home support systems by creating a coordinated, year-long continuum of care, ensuring mothers not only receive information and emotional support, but are connected to timely, appropriate, human-centered care, and direct material aid like food and baby products, throughout their postpartum journey. Programs are designed to be sponsored through health insurers, public health initiatives, and government partnerships.
Most AI safety evaluation still requires an engineering team. From Users to Evaluators inverts that, putting evaluation tools directly in the hands of the clinicians, caregivers, and domain experts who understand the risk best, so AI safety testing can scale as fast as AI deployment does.
Expanded programs for caregivers, chronic illness support, and families navigating high-stress transitions are in development.
Traditional postpartum care often ends within weeks of birth. Connected Beginnings delivers support across the full first year, when many people remain most vulnerable to unmet mental health needs.
Most AI tools reach sensitive, high-stakes conversations without rigorous safety testing. From Users to Evaluators puts evaluation directly in the hands of the clinicians and domain experts who understand the risk.
Health and mental health outcomes vary dramatically by geography, income, and access. No one should have fewer resources because of where they were born or live.
Bloomb Health Alliance works alongside established organizations to close gaps and connect people to the right care at the right time.
For $100, a mother in Connected Beginnings receives a full year of continuous digital support, coordinated referrals, and access to crisis intervention. Funding also provides direct material aid, including food assistance and baby products, for mothers navigating financial distress. A $50,000 grant reaches 500 mothers, or funds a full cycle of open source AI safety evaluation. The math is simple. The impact is not.
